CCTV footage from NMA Campers, covering Elm Grove where Murray was when his injuries occurred, reportedly appears to show the 28-year-old walking onto the zebra crossing to flag down a car before speaking to the driver.

The News understands the footage then shows he walked around the car to get inside, when the car moved off before Murray had fully entered the vehicle, with Murray then falling on to the pavement.

‘I was found face down in a pool of my own blood, I woke up in a hospital bed covered in blood.

‘The whole thing has scared me as I have two kids at home and I'm lucky to be alive.’

Murray has given his thanks to everyone who stopped to help him and called an ambulance when he was found in Elm Grove.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: ‘We received a 999 call at 12.30am on Sunday, January 19, after a male was found on the ground on Elm Grove, Hayling Island, with a head injury.

‘We sent a paramedic team leader and two ambulances to the scene.

‘After initial treatment at the scene, he was then taken to the QA Hospital.’

The ambulance service said alcohol may have been a factor in the injuries caused.

Anyone with information which may be linked to Murray’s injuries should call police on 101.

Hampshire police said officers were called at 1.17am to Elm Grove to a ‘report of a man being aggressive’ but added: ‘The matter was resolved before officers attended.’

It was not clear who the man was or whether the report was linked to the incident involving Murray.
