Neighbour says thanks with first fundraiser at Roko Portsmouth

CARING Melissa Bell is holding her first fundraiser, inspired by the help a charity gave to her former next-door neighbour.

The 32-year-old wanted to do something to repay the Motor Neurone Disease Association for the support it gave to Iris Prior, who has the disease and lived next door to her when she lived in Cowplain.

As neighbours for six years, the pair grew close
and Melissa, a nurse and mum-of-one, saw first-hand the support given to Iris from the charity.

Melissa, who now lives in Drayton, said: ‘Iris had MND and although I had heard of the disease, I didn’t know about the association and what it did.

‘I felt quite helpless but they were very supportive, so I thought I would do this to show my appreciation.’

There will be bouncy castles, stalls, face painting, raffles, fun activities, plus more, taking place at Melissa’s gym – Roko Portsmouth in Copnor Road, on Saturday from 11am until 2pm.
