Rowner Community Trust is a charity aiming to create an arts and media focus for the youth centre in Rowner and create opportunities for young people to build careers in creative industries.

Rather than wait for funds to be raised to redevelop the youth centre at Nimrod Community Centre, the trust is in partnership with young people’s charity Motiv8 to move forward with the project.

Dr Iain Lucas, chief officer, said: ‘The essence of the new activity is to enable young people to tell their own stories. Grange Youth Theatre will provide the skills, training and support to enable this to happen, with no experience necessary.’

The group will help provide advice, guidance, as well as a platform for the teenagers to showcase their creativity.

All local 16 to 19 year olds are encouraged to sign up at rownercommunitytrust.org/gyt-register to go and see what Grange Youth Theatre is all about.

To ensure the youth theatre can get off to its best start, Rowner Community Trust is currently looking to recruit volunteers to support the development of the new group.

Volunteers will be needed every Wednesday during term time between 5.30pm and 8.30pm, they are also seeking volunteers who would like to run one-off workshops on a relevant topic.
