MUMS are being given the chance to support their team on Mother’s Day weekend.

For the first time ever, Pompey in the Community is running a competition for children to nominate their mums to be a Pompey mascot on March 9.

Mascot co-ordinator for Pompey in the Community Fiona Bristow said: ‘We’re giving the mums a chance because it’s the ideal opportunity, being a home game the day before Mother’s Day.

The 11 lucky mums who win will get special Pompey shirts with MUM1 on the back, a bouquet of flowers from the players when they come out of the tunnel and the chance to have a light training session.

They will also receive an official photo of the event, and they have the chance to do a lap of honour around Fratton Park.

Nominators need to write 100 words on A4 paper explaining why their mum deserves the opportunity to be a mascot for the day.

They should include their full name and age (if under 18) and include mum’s name and contact details.

Entries should be sent to Mums as Mascots Competition, c/o )) in the Community, Pompey Study Centre, Anson Road, Portsmouth, PO4 8TB by Saturday, February 9.
