MORE than 200 garden lovers attended open gardens in St Ronan’s Avenue, Southsea last weekend.

Neighbours got together to open their gardens to support cancer charities as part of the National Garden Scheme.

They raised £1,500 for a number of charities, including MacMillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The four privately-owned gardens are maintained to a high standard.

Some feature award-winning designs and were featured on TV last year.

St Ronan’s Avenue was also winner of the Eat My Street prize at Portsmouth in Bloom 2014.

They are having another open garden day on July 4 from 5pm to 8pm. The £6 fee covers admission to all the gardens and includes a glass of wine.
