Also this Saturday I am going to try my hand at being an auctioneer as Gosport’s charity Artfest comes to Katies in The Precinct.

Helena Heath of Inklination was devastated to hear of the passing of David Bowie and she just knew she had to do something. There was only one thing for it.

She wanted to do something to mark his life and to fight against cancer so she spoke to myself and Marie at Katies in The Precinct and the Artfest was born.

We put out a plea on Facebook and in my column here and Gosport did us proud.

Sophie Fay, 26, was the first to paint a wonderful hare, with lyrics as well as three little Labyrinth charcoals.

Paul Strevens, 54, donated a painting of Elvis as well as working hard on his David Bowie painting.

Tyrene Finlayson has sketched a portrait of David Bowie using Biros as well as making a little clay worm.

Natalie Rance has painted a beautiful musical butterfly, inspired by the butterfly in Labyrinth, while Summer Heath has pencilled a beautiful David Bowie portrait.

Samantha Devine, 42, and Sam Devine wanted to helped and hadn’t done anything like this before but their work is amazing!

Everything’s Oh Kay has donated two wonderful pieces of art using spray paints on cardboard.

Tammy Murray, a DJ from Haslar Radio, has donated four digital canvas prints.

All of the artists are from Gosport except Lisa Taylor-Walker who hopped on the bus in the New Forest at 7.30am and travelled for two hours to come to Gosport to donate her artwork of a very glittery David Bowie as The Goblin King and be with all the other artists for a photo.

The generosity of these artists has been over whelming.

All the money raised will be going to Harbour Cancer Support Centre in the bus station in Gosport – where anyone affected by cancer can be supported.

The first prize for the raffle, donated by Helena Heath, is to spend a day in the Tattoo Studio, Inklination having a tattoo worth up to £350 with Helena herself.

Everyone is welcome and entrance is free. It starts at 7pm.

Raffle tickets will be on sale for just £1 per strip.

For more information, to donate to the auction or raffle please call 07801760969 or look on Facebook for Gosport Charity Artfest.
