PEOPLE have been encouraged to try canoeing as part of National Go Canoeing Week.

The event focuses on getting people of all ages out on the water and having fun.

Group trips will be run every day from this Saturday until Sunday, June 1 around Langstone Harbour from the Portsmouth Watersports Centre in Eastern Road.

The theme of this year’s canoeing week is Every Mile Counts, and a national tally will be kept of the distance paddled during the week.

It costs £10 per person for a one-mile route and £25 for a three-mile route. Call (023) 9266 3873 for more information.
