FAREHAM will have its Christmas lights switched on by a children’s favourite.

The lights are traditionally switched on by a celebrity but this year Peppa Pig will have the honour of turning on the festive display in the town centre.

Families are in for a treat with this year’s line-up as bands and choirs will take to the stage throughout the day.

Hosted by radio station The Breeze 107, the entertainment starts at 11am and continues until 5pm.

Bands and choirs including Ashcroft Arts Centre Community Choir and Streetdance, Bodyrox Productions, Glee Club UK Fareham, Igloo Music, Love Soul Choir, Miss Hayley Fisher and First Night Nerves, The Offbeat Offensive, The Undecided and the TS Tennacity Band will perform at the event.

Gosport Solent Brass will round off the day with a sing-along carol concert.

Peppa Pig will be meeting and greeting fans for free at the performance podium during the day.

Cinderella’s Ugly Sisters – Richard Pocock and Mark Siney – from this year’s seasonal pantomime at Ferneham Hall will make a guest appearance and entertain with some traditional family humour.

The switch-on will be at 4.30pm on Sunday, November 25 in Fareham town centre.
