FLYING can be hard work – especially when you are doing it for the first time!
This young peregrine falcon took a well-earned rest on Chichester Cathedral after trying out his wings.
The six-week-old bird is the first of this year’s brood nesting at the cathedral to take to the air.
But he soon got the hang of it after initially taking short, tentative flights.
Pete Harrison, from the RSPB, said: ‘The adult was keeping a watchful eye on him while he tested his wings.
‘Within about half an hour he had finished making these mini launch attempts and was already circling the building like a pro.’
