MEMBERS of a popular painting group have been recognised in the annual Silver Cup competition.
Rowlands Castle Painting Society members gathered to enjoy a display of all the entrants and winners.
The competition is for members only and submissions are entered anonymously.
Terry Devaney, from the society, said: ‘During the evening an American buffet was enjoyed.
‘Thanks go to Pat and Ian Hoper, Robert and Suzanne Hughes for the catering.
‘All present had the chance to socialise, enjoy a glass of wine and then vote for their favourite paintings. David Hughes organised the evening, no mean feat as there is a lot of preparation work involved. He had a band of helpers to take in the paintings, hang the exhibits and then count all the votes.
‘Paddy Holmes, the patron of the society, flew in from Italy where she now resides, to present the winners with their trophies. Paddy is a staunch supporter of the society and it is greatly appreciated that she puts herself out in this way.
‘Paddy said in her address to the members that the standard of work just goes up every year.’
The winners were: Yvonne Bromley – novice; Gary Miller – oils; Valerie Trepan – watercolour; Barbara Wood – field; David Hughes – acrylic; and Joan Adams – portrait.
Sally Williams won in pastel, Debbie Bone in mixed media, Gary Miller for miniature. Belinda Hoad for flower, Pat Hoper for wildlife and Gary Miller for creative.
Pam Hazel won domestic, Pat Hoper in seascape, Kathy Hales in life drawing and Hilary Headen won the Jennings Wood cup.
The society meets every Tuesday at Rowlands Castle Parish Hall.
Membership is open to all. For more details go to rowlanscastlepaintingsociety.org.uk.
