A RENOWNED wildlife filmmaker will visit Portsmouth to talk about his latest project – the most ambitious series on the polar regions ever undertaken.

John Aitchison, who has worked on many programmes including Springwatch, will present The Frozen Planet at Portsmouth Grammar School at 7.30pm on November 24.

It took four years to make, as teams braved temperatures down to -50C and 200mph winds to capture the essence of remote corners of Antarctica and the Arctic.

The event is part of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust’s 50th anniversary celebrations, and provides an opportunity to see and hear about Mr Aitchison’s experiences filming for the new series.

Tickets cost £8 and must be booked in advance by calling Sarah Hayward on 01489 774400 or emailing sarahh@hwt.org.uk.
