Police looking for witnesses after fire raged through Anglesey Lodge in Gosport

WITNESSES are the key to finding who started a fire that tore through an historic building.

On Friday, November 6, a fire broke out at Anglesey Lodge in Anglesey Road, Gosport, in the first floor and roof.

Firefighters from across Hampshire spent hours getting the blaze under control, and police are now treating it as a deliberate attack.

An investigation into what happened is under way, but the condition of the building is currently unknown.

A spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We are appealing for witnesses after a fire was set in a derelict building on Anglesey Road.

‘The fire caused substantial damage to the building and police are investigating it as an arson.

‘Officers investigating have conducted a number of enquiries over the weekend and are now turning to the public for help.

Anyone with information is asked to phone police on 101, with the crime reference number 44200431804.
