POMPEY-MAD nine-year-old George Gillies offered to send the club his pocket money as it battles financial problems.
And on Saturday he got a big ‘thank you’ and VIP treatment ahead of the club’s clash with Burnley – to sit and watch the players warm up from the dugout before the game.
George, from Leicester, used to live in Portsmouth and has been a Pompey fan since he was very young.
He said: ‘I wanted to come and still watch them play. It was good because I got to see them close up.’
Dad Andy, 40, added: ‘He’s always loved them since he was tiny.
‘I think he thought that if he gave his pocket money that would be enough.
‘He loves it - it’s his absolute life. His bedroom is a shrine to Portsmouth.
‘He’s very upset about the situation the club is in and he just wants to do his bit.
‘We are very proud of him, he’s a good lad.
‘It’s very good of the club to have him along here for the day.’
