Portsmouth amputee takes part in 27-mile relay

AN inspirational amputee is set to take part in a 27-mile team event to help raise money for people with limb impairments.

David Williamson will compete in the Manic Marafun which is organised by charity Limbpower, which helps disabled people through sport.

David, 37, had both of his legs amputated when he was less than one year old after being born without any tibia bones.

Mr Williamson played sport avidly as a child before rediscovering it again in his 20s. He’s since taken part in three Great South Runs and the Willow24 event.

The Manic Marafun, which takes place at Stoke Mandeville Hospital today, will see teams of 27 amputees compete one mile each in a relay format.
