Rescue teams were deployed at 3.15pm this afternoon after reports of a man being stuck in the mudflats at low tide.

The teams carried out a ‘removal rescue’ to recover the casualty from the mud before water levels started to rise. It is not known how the man became stuck and he did not require medical treatment.

A spokesman for the Coastguard said: ‘People should be very careful and know the tide times. The mud might look solid but it is not going to be and when people stand on it they can become stuck.’
