A CHARITY that supports families is urging kind-hearted people, businesses and organisations to sponsor one of its volunteers.

Louise Boyle, business manager of Home-Start Portsmouth, said: ‘As one of Portsmouth’s most well-established family support charities with a 24-year history of making a difference to family lives in our city, we have always been responsible for securing our own funding but in recent years this has become more and more challenging as demands for our services increase year on year.

‘In the last four years referrals have increased by over 30 per cent.

‘We are now looking to businesses in our community to see if they can help us to continue to make a difference.’

The Four Acre Trust has offered to match any sponsorship that is more than £500.

An open evening is being held at the charity’s offices in Lake Road, Landport on Wednesday, November 16 at 6pm.
