Portsmouth cyclists called to back armed forces charity's ride

KEEN cyclists in Portsmouth are being called to dust off their helmets and hop on their bikes to join a fundraising ride for an armed forces charity.

SSAFA is searching for 50 riders to join those who have already signed up to the Victory Ride across Hampshire on Sunday, July 10.

The action will see fundraisers racing their way along two routes, either a 110km (68.3 miles) or a 60km (37.2 miles) through the county’s picturesque coastal villages.

Both routes start and finish at HMS Victory, in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard.

Those keen on joining the ride have until Monday, June 27, to sign-up.

SSAFA fundraising director, Tegan Jones, said: ‘The event hopes to raise £30,000 which will be used to help us to continue to provide practical, emotional and financial support for the 60,000 people of the armed forces community we currently support every year.’
