A TEENAGER who was badly hurt when the speedboat he was in flipped and crashed is expected to make a full recovery.

Dramatic photographs captured the moment when the £1m Vector powerboat struck a buoy and crashed on the River Hamble, near Swanwick.

Simon Dredge, 17, from Warsash, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with critical injuries after the crash on Wednesday, May 13.

The powerboat company Vector confirmed yesterday that he is expected to make a full recovery.

Simon’s powerboat champion father Peter Dredge pulled him to safety. A rescue operation also saw the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, RNLI and emergency services deployed.

An investigation into the crash has been launched.
