The Duke of Edinburgh, who was the Queen’s husband, died at Windsor Castle aged 99, the Royal Family have announced.
Philip was the longest-serving consort in British history.
The duke and the Queen were married for more than 70 years and Philip dedicated decades of his life to royal duty, serving the nation at the monarch’s side.

The Palace said in a statement: ‘It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
‘His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
‘Further announcements will made in due course.
‘The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.’

Joshua Moynihan said: ‘Even though I have personally never been a fan of the royals, I have to admire his good and long service to the country and the people, and how dedicated he was to the Queen and his family, I see people making nasty comments when in fact a family have lost a valued member - husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather - as well as a respected public figure.
‘And of course, to the younger people who make themselves and their futures better with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme is inspirational. My condolences to the family.’
