POMPEY fans Mike Byrne and Joe Hepworth realised a dream when given the chance to play on Fratton Park’s hallowed turf.

The pair formed part of the home side for Pompey’s Be a Pro event.

Fans bought the opportunity to experience what stars like Greg Halford, Joel Ward and David Norris get up to on match days.

They had the chance to play a full 90-minute match alongside the backdrop of the Fratton End.

Competitors enjoyed a tour of the ground and played in their own personalised Pompey shirt.

The News’ Rory McKeown and Jordan Cross played a half each for the away side.

Former players Guy Whittingham and Andy Awford took up the roles of gaffers and gave rousing team talks to the players before the match and at half time.

The match finished 8-3 to the away side.
