TOILETS at a Fareham pub have been commended at an annual awards ceremony.

The Crown Inn in West Street has been awarded a four-star rating out of five by inspectors in the Loo of the Year Awards 2011. The annual awards aim to highlight and improve standards of toilets outside the home across the UK.

Authorised inspectors make unannounced visits to more than 1,500 toilets at sites across the UK, judging them against numerous criteria, including maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hygiene equipment and overall management and customer care.

Danielle Crosswaite, manager at the Wetherspoon pub, said: ‘I am delighted with the award. Staff at the pub work hard to ensure that the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised.’
