PEOPLE who want to try out sailing can have a go as part of a national scheme.

Six sailing clubs and watersports centres in the Portsmouth area are getting ready to open their doors to the public to get them on the water and trying sailing with taster sessions.

The clubs are taking part in the Royal Yachting Association’s Push The Boat Out initiative.

It runs from tomorrow until May 17 and will see the following clubs in this area taking part: Hill Head Sailing Club, Lee-on-the-Solent Sailing Club, Portchester Sailing Club, Thorney Island Sailing Club, and Tudor Sailing Club.

Havant-based charity Releasing Potential will also be holding events.

More information on specific activities and events can be found by visiting the RYA website and entering a postcode at rya.org.uk/startboating/pushtheboatout/Pages/Search.
