A former stray tabby cat that needed hip surgery is in desperate need of a caring and loving home.
Stanley was taken into the Gosport Cats Protection (CP) centre a few months ago, clearly traumatised and in a lot of pain.
After all he’s been through, Stanley certainly deserves a loving and caring home
He was found to have fractures in his hip so Gosport CP paid for an operation to remove the top of his hip to make him pain-free.
Gosport CP became aware of Stanley through a very kind lady in Bridgemary who noticed a tatty and weary tabby cat hobbling beside her cat.
She was worried for his welfare and contacted Gosport CP for him to be added to the waiting list of cats needing to come in for care.
Gosport CP volunteer Paula Hatton-Jones picked Stanley up when a foster space was available in May.
Paula said: ‘I named him Stanley as he reminded me of my first childhood cat.
‘As soon as he arrived in my rescue cat pen, he slept for days.
‘This cat had been living on his wits for so long and he was beginning to give up.’
The vet thought Stanley was about four years old and x-rays of his back showed that this stray cat, who had not been neutered or microchipped, had been left with fractures after an operation on his hip.
So Gosport CP stepped in to cover Stanley’s hip operation at a cost of £1,500.
As part of his recovery Stanley started hydrotherapy sessions at the end of June.
Paula said: ‘The difference in Stanley is fantastic. He may have a bit of an odd gait but he is pain-free at last.
‘This special cat is now looking for an extra-special home of his own.
‘Stanley is a purry, often chatty cat who likes to be brushed and enjoys fuss and attention all on his own terms.
‘After all he’s been through, Stanley certainly deserves a loving and caring home.’
