Red Nose Day: Cake Sale at Kingscourt

Youngsters at a Waterlooville school beat expectations with their Comic Relief fundraising

Pupils, staff and yummy mummies all whipped up some delicious treats to help raise money at Kingscourt school, Waterlooville, for Red Nose Day.

Pupils from each year group dressed in home clothes, donated at least £2 and even organised a huge whole school cake sale. Each child was allowed four cakes of their choice from the scrumptious selection laid out in two of the downstairs classrooms.

The school’s amazing efforts resulted in a whopping £700 being raised, beating their ambitious target of £500.

Marketing Manager at Kingscourt School, Dawn Sharpe, said: ‘We always like to support Red Nose Day, this time we asked the children what they wanted to do and they went for a cake sale.

‘It may be a traditional approach but it has been quite enjoyable.’

Year six pupils helped the kindergarten children to choose their cakes, while others manned the stalls and encouraged other years to choose their favourite sweet treats.

Pupil and baker, Grace Falcon, said: ‘Some of us baked the cakes ourselves, but some people just quickly popped into Morrisons!’

However, its seemed that the best part of the day for all the children, was wearing different themed red noses for the occasion.
