THEY are a nostalgic memory for anyone who grew up in the 80s.

Now, after a 20-year break, roller discos are returning to a council-run leisure centre.

Westgate Leisure Centre, in Via Ravenna, Chichester, is launching Saturday afternoon sessions for all ages and abilities.

Five dates have been confirmed for this year and there are plans to increase this to regular weekly events after Christmas.

The centre has teamed up with RocknRoller, who are providing safety equipment.

Their experienced staff and marshals will be available to help with the fitting of pads and skates.

The mini rollers sessions will run from 4.15pm until 5.15pm and are aimed at under-11s.

The main sessions will run from 6pm until 7.30pm.

The first event is on Saturday, October 27, then again on November 10 and 24, December 8 and 22.

‘These sessions give us a chance to relive our youth’, said Kevin McCoy, the manager of Westgate Leisure Centre.
