COMPETITIONS kept neighbours in Chesterfield Road, Copnor, busy throughout the day.

Residents organised a tug-of-war, a bucking bronco and a best-dressed house competition as part of their big celebration.

The award was won by Paul and Karen Miller with their home’s royal-themed window display. The centrepiece was a rotating cut-out of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Karen, 41, said: ‘We were elated when we found out we had won the award. We like to push the boat out on these occasions.

‘We have had a really amazing day.’

Youngsters also enjoyed races, face-painting and a disco.

Debbie Davis, who helped organise the street party, said: ‘We wanted to have lots of things happening to keep everyone interested. I think we definitely had the best street party in Portsmouth.’
