AN award-winning programme that has helped reduce crime and anti-social behaviour is celebrating its fifth year with a community fun day.

The Respect Programme, which works with young people in Eastney, Milton and Southsea will hold an open event for children, young people and families involved on Friday.

Attractions include street dance performances, football and basketball tournaments, tennis and trampoline lessons and a showcase of work done this year by the Respect Programme on behalf of Pompey Sports and Education Foundation.

Eastney Community Centre in Bransbury Park will be open for the local community and invited guests to view the schemes run by the project, and witness first-hand young people’s achievements as they take part in activities.

The programme recently received a national gold award for its delivery of a Positive Futures scheme to help young people.

The event will run from 11am to 3pm.
