DIE-HARD romantics looking for love can search for it in one of the most exclusive places in the city.

Next Friday, Portsmouth City Museum in Cambridge Road is opening the doors to the Esther Room for a Valentine’s Day event.

The room was named after Esther, a young Jewish Queen who was loved by a king of Persia.

Her story is depicted in the carved fire surround, which is the main feature of the room and was made between 1616 and 1640.

Some of the other objects in the Esther Room are up to 450 years old.

The museum has teamed up with Sophisticated Singles dating agency to offer the perfect setting to find true love – amongst artefacts from the museum’s romance collection.

Sophie Personne, from the agency, said: ‘If things go really well on the night, the Esther Room is also available as a wedding venue!’

The event begins at 7.30pm and includes champagne and canapes.
