Royal Navy sailors from HMS Sultan enjoy festive fun to donate nearly £1,000 to Cash for Kids Mission Christmas

Staff and trainees at HMS Sultan in Gosport adorned Christmas jumpers and festive fancy dress in order to raise funds towards the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal.

The organisation, supported locally by Wave 105 FM, are working with community organisations, social workers, schools, other charities and the emergency services to ensure that every child will receive a gift from Santa.

In addition, teams of personnel took on a timed Christmas present hunt, solving riddles and clues distributed around the base.

Chief Petty Officer Physical Trainer Marc Feighery, who helped organise the event, said: ‘Christmas is a wonderful time, but for so many families it will be a struggle and a luxury that they simply cannot afford.

‘Hopefully we can help spread the magic and relieve some pressure, so that every child feels special.’

In total the events raised £974.23 to go towards the worthy cause, which is in need of extra support this year as more and more people face poverty.

New, unwrapped presents can be donated at various drop-off locations across the area which have got on board with the campaign.

In the Portsmouth area, this includes Wickes, B&M and Pearson’s Estate Agents in Fareham and Tesco stores in Fareham, Portsmouth’s Crasswell Street, Whiteley, North Harbour and Bursledon.
