AN RSPCA charity shop is ‘desperate’ for volunteers to help keep the store open.

The branch in Fareham Shopping Centre is currently only open for a few hours every week because there aren’t enough volunteers to keep the store open.

According to the RSPCA, there is a need for volunteers both there and at the Stubbington Ark branch in Ranvilles Lane.

Rachel Hall from Solent RSPCA said: ‘As a self-funded animal rescue centre we have to raise £3,000 a day just to keep our doors open.

‘We do this through donations, the provision of commercial boarding and through our charity shops.

‘We are desperately looking for volunteers to come and help us to raise money by giving as much of their time as they can to work in our Fareham charity shop.

‘Apart from being over 18, the volunteers we are looking for simply have to be good with the public and happy to help in whatever way they can.

‘They need to have really good people skills to deal with sometimes emotionally distraught pet owners.’
