RuPaul Drag Race UK star Blu Hydrangea to host show in Portsmouth

Blu Hydrangea will perform an exclusive show at Hampshire Boulevard (HB), Portsmouth’s only LGBTQ+ venue, on Friday, March 27.

Ru Paul’s Drag Race is the worldwide hit that held its first UK series in October on BBC iPlayer with more than 10 million tuning in to watch.

Featuring chat show host Graham Norton as one of the judge, the 10 contestants had to battle to become the UK’s next drag superstar.

Blu finished fifth in the show, which BBC Three has confirmed will return for a second series after ratings success. Ryan McCormick, assistant manager at HB, said: ‘Blu will be bringing her sass, talent and flawless looks to Hampshire Boulevard to perform for the very first time in the city.’

Belfast-born Blu’s performance will take place from 7pm to 11pm and will be hosted by Portsmouth’s own drag royalty, Cherry Liquor.

Tickets for the show are available from the bar at Hampshire Boulevard, priced £15 for a standard ticket or £30 for a VIP one, which includes a meet and greet and professional photograph.

Fellow Drag Race UK star, Sum Ting Wong, will visit Portsmouth Guildhall on February 22 for the ‘Drag Brunch’ fundraiser.
