Pampered pooches are invited to join East Hants Dachshunds’ latest charity fundraising event, taking place on Saturday, February 15.

The group runs walks throughout the area for sausage dogs to meet up, as well as putting on various events during the year, with the most recent being a Christmas party for the group which even had a visit from Santa.

Larissa Carey, one of the organisers, said: ‘This one is a bit smaller than our Christmas event and our Sports Day.

‘It’s gimmicky and cute, and who doesn’t want to take pictures of their dogs in an afternoon tea Valentine’s environment?

‘Quite a few people in the group have partners away so it’s nice for them to have something to do for Valentine’s Day.’

Proceeds will be going towards canine charity Angels Small Paws, which helps rescue dogs in difficult situations, abandoned, in dog pounds or on death row, to help find safe and loving homes for these pets.

One of the members got two rescue dachshunds from the charity, so the group wanted to raise donations at the latest event.

Larissa said: ‘We thought it would be nice to go for a small rescue, a lot of the smaller rescues are getting a lot of dachshunds in at the moment.’

Tickets are £15 per person, with dogs going free, and each of the sittings at 11am and 1pm will give visitors the opportunity to browse the wares of some stall holders attending the event including Titchfield-based pet accessory and bandana business Storm’s Style, handmade luxury dog clothing from Snowy & Me, as well as family-run raw dog food suppliers Hunters Choice.
