Schoolchildren inspired by a visit from award-winning authors

SCHOOLCHILDREN were inspired by a visit from an award-winning writer-illustrator team.

Youngsters from Mayville High School got creative at a workshop led by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet.

Known by young readers as the creators of Barry the Fish with Fingers and the Supertato series, the pair helped pupils come with ideas for new superheroes.

They also got children laughing with a fun-packed singalong.

The visit formed part of the Southsea school’s environmentally-themed book week, which also welcomed a reading from Jeannie Baker – author of rain forest-based Where the Forest Meets the Sea.

The fixture culminated on Friday, when pupils united in turning up to school in homemade, borrowed or second-hand costumes.
