A NAUTICAL-themed afternoon will entertain shoppers in a bid to raise £6,000 to buy a boat for a sea cadet group.

The event, organised by Warsash Sea Cadets, will begin with a ceremonial colours routine, involving naval commands hoisting the group’s flag at Locks Heath Shopping Village.

A range of activities will take place from 12.30pm until 4.30pm on Saturday, including traditional naval choreographed movement such as the hornpipe and semaphore flags.

At 2.30pm, a charity boat pull will take place to raise money for a new rib, which is urgently required to support the cadets when they are sailing on the River Hamble.

Centre manager Ian Goodridge said: ‘We’re looking forward to hosting the event and I’m sure it will prove popular with our shoppers.

‘I’d like to say a huge thank you to the cadets and all those involved for taking time out of their very busy schedules to run what will no doubt be a fantastic event.’
