MORE than £2,400 was raised for good causes after a church hall opened its doors for an art exhibition.
A diverse range of paintings went on show at All Saints’ Church Hall in Denmead and around 400 people came to see the art.
Gill Barge, one of a team of organisers, said: ‘It’s been running for over 40 years and is always very popular. It was a busy weekend.
‘The exhibition attracts people from far and wide – exhibitors, people interested in art and just locals who call in.
‘There was a painting of Mike Tyson and an absolute mix from paintings of flowers and landscapes to portraits and animals.’
A total of 78 works were sold over the two days, with the artists donating a percentage to the church.
The cash raised will be split between the church’s charities, which include Practical Action, Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East, and Mission for Seafarers.
Every year the church donates around £10,000 to good causes.
The main organiser for the art show is Steve Venn.
Mrs Barge added: ‘It’s very much a team effort.’
