UNPUBLISHED writers across the south have been invited to enter a short story and poetry competition.

Self-published author David Gates is organising the awards to recognise local talent.

David said: ‘There are many competitions but most of them are only open to those people who have either published within the last year or who have never published anything.

‘That leaves quite a gap for people, like myself, who have self-published or have work that might be more than a year old, so I thought a competition open to everyone would help fill that void.’

Winners will receive a cash prize and be part of an anthology.

The entry fee is £5.
