AN OUTSTANDING display of flowers, floral art and cakes went on display at a summer show.
Crookhorn College was transformed for the Purbrook Horticultural Society Summer Show.
Lynda Piddington, one of the organisers, said: ‘Although some classes had fewer entries this year, such as chrysanthemums, other classes such as floral art had increased numbers.
‘Overall the quality of entries seemed improved again this year making quite a spectacular show for sight and smell.
‘We also had representations from the Queen Elizabeth Country Park rangers, the Cacti and Succulent Society, Waterlooville Sewing Club amongst other stalls and even had puppy guide dog walkers taking advantage of the show to introduce the puppies to crowds.
‘The homemade preserves and cakes went like hot cakes!
‘And it has become quite the meeting place for “ladies who lunch” to have a cup of tea, a slice of cake and a chat following viewing the exhibits.
‘In fact many people come back a little later to purchase another slice to take home for tea!’
A clutch of local people received trophies for going the extra mile.
The trophy winners were: Gordon Hoare, Ruth Moore, Peter Davis, Janet Macfarlane, Mike Potts, Carol Copland, Roy Harding, Jenny Withers, Kate Legg, B P Moore, Maggie Mobsby, Janet Andrews, Allan Chivers, Jonathan Jones, William Harvey, and Mavis Davis.
