Singer Danielle Louise Thomas has praised Royal Marines musicians from Portsmouth after a stirring tribute to veterans of the Battle of Atlantic.

The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth accompanied the Liverpool-based mezzo soprano in a charity concert held in the city to mark the 70th anniversary of the conflict.

Now Danielle has posted footage on the internet of her singing Rule Britannia accompanied by the band at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

‘They are amazing musicians and I was in awe of their talent’ she said.

‘I was asked to sing two verses of this so stuck with the first verse twice hoping people would join in.’

‘I have never felt so proud to have performed with such talented people like the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth but also singing for our brave servicemen and women was just an honour.’
