There was little chance of the wicket drying out - but one of the world’s most unusual cricket matches went ahead despite conditions underfoot.
The annual match between the Royal Southern Yacht Club and the Island Sailing Club on a low tide at the Bramble Bank in the Solent.
The matches only last about an hour before the tide turns.
A temporary pub, The Bramble Inn, serves refreshment for players and spectators during the game, which traditionally each side takes it in turns to win.
