RESIDENTS in Portsmouth are being encouraged to take part in a budget consultation ahead of further cutbacks.

Portsmouth City Council says it has saved £61m in the last four years, and will have to save £37m more by 2018.

Public meetings will take place at the Portsmouth Guildhall on October 7 at 7pm and at Springfield School on October 9 at 7pm to discuss how the money can be saved. Feedback can also be given via the council’s website at portsmouth.gov.uk.

Council leader Councillor Donna Jones said: ‘We are facing some very tough choices.’
