STAFF at a Havant energy firm took a day out from their normal working lives to help sort donations for The Rowans Hospice.

Volunteers from Southern Electric, in Penner Road, were tasked with arranging stock given by members of the public.

They worked with the trading centre’s regular volunteers in the stock processing centre in Farlington to prepare the items selected for dispatch.

They were able to do this as part of the company’s Community at Heart scheme, which gives members of staff a day away from the office every year to help worthwhile causes in the communities in which they live and work.

Sue Reeves, the stock processing manager, said: ‘We are delighted with the support that Southern Electric has provided us over their various visits and appreciate the extra help the teams have been able to give us.

‘It has made an impact on the sorting of many donations from the public which would not be possible without the help from volunteers.

‘It makes a real difference in the local community.’
