PORTSMOUTH’S Guildhall Square will host the city’s biggest street party to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

On Sunday June 3 the party will take place from 11am to 6pm and everyone is invited to enjoy music, games, food and drink.

Kids can also take part in crown-making, splashing around in a paddling pool and trying out a throne for size.

From 1pm to 2pm a soprano will serenade the crowds and from 2pm to 6pm there will be live coverage of the Thames Jubilee Pageant.

Heather Todd, Portsmouth City Council’s events manager, said: ‘We’ve had lots of residents apply for street parties, so it’s no surprise Portsmouth has 47 planned, the most in the south.

‘But if you’ve haven’t got one arranged then join us on Sunday for what hopes to be a really enjoyable day.

‘You can watch events in London unfold on the Big Screen while tucking into your cucumber sandwiches and homemade cake.’

On June 4 people can watch the BBC Diamond Jubilee concert live on the Big Screen in Guildhall Square from 7pm to 10.30pm.
