RAIN and blustery winds didn’t put off the cast of this year’s Kings Theatre’s panto as they arrived to launch Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs.

In a classic white car adorned with colourful bunting, former Emmerdale actress and Strictly Come Dancing star Lisa Riley arrived in Southsea with fellow cast members Marcus Patrick, Rob McVeigh and Charlotte MacLachlan.

Lisa, who is a patron of the Kings Theatre, is returning to play Queen Mavelova in the fairytale. She says: ‘I come down Albert Road and I feel like I’m coming to my home from home.

‘I’ve worked in so many theatres and I just always find myself coming back here because I love it. You walk in and there’s a real community spirit about it.’

Lisa adds: ‘They run the theatre so brilliantly and I think we need this kind of spirit more in life.’

The actress and former You’ve Been Framed presenter last week hit top of the Strictly leader board with her cha cha cha with professional dance partner Robin Windsor.

Lisa says: ‘This whole week has really been a dream come true for me.

‘All of the work we put in has paid off.

‘I mean, people are watching it in America – it’s incredible

‘To be honest, I just really want to make people smile.’

Also starring in the Kings production is Hollyoaks actor Marcus Patrick, who plays the Huntsman and starred at the Kings last year as Dandini in Cinderella.

Marcus says: ‘I really enjoyed it last time I was here and as I grew up in Gosport, it does kind of feel like I’m coming home.

‘I really wanted to get involved here again but I didn’t know how, so I’m lucky I got it.

‘This theatre has a great spirit, especially at Christmas.’

Rob McVeigh will star as Prince Valentine, Aiden J Harvey will return as Muddles, Phil Randell will play Sarah Spolit, Jen Pringle from TV’s Milkshake will play Fairy Sparkle and Charlotte MacLachlan will play Snow White.

Married couple Karen Anderson and Max Laird, who starred in Channel 4’s The Seven Dwarves, will play Colonel and Growler.

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs runs from December 12 until January 6, 2013. For more information call (023) 9282 8282 or go to
