FRANCESCA Cope reckons her dad Charlie is a bit of a superhero – and she’s got the photos to prove it.
The eight-year-old sent in snaps of Charlie dressed as Batman and Superman during New Year’s Day charity swims at Stokes Bay.
‘He is my hilarious superhero,’ she said in her entry to our Daft Dads contest.
We picked it out as the winner and now Charlie is looking forward to a day out at the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed next month. The prize is two tickets and two programmes for the festival on Friday, July 12.
‘That’s great, thanks very much’ said Charlie, of Smith Street, Gosport.
The 47-year-old, who is married to Sally and has one other daughter, 14-year-old Harriet, is a househusband and spends a lot of time with the girls.
Francesca said: ‘He makes me laugh a lot.’
Charlie added: ‘We play with nerf guns, I do silly voices, that kind of thing. If you can make them happy, then you must be doing the right job.’
The Festival of Speed is the world’s biggest celebration of the history of motorsport and features an amazing array of racing cars plus driving heroes.
Charlie will be able to get up close to motor racing legends such as Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jackie Stewart, plus today’s stars including Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Nico Rosberg and Sergio Perez.
This year’s 20th Festival of Speed will be like a ‘greatest hits’ of the past two decades, focusing on highlights from the event.
Great cars from around the world will make a rare return to the UK, while racing machines and their drivers will be reunited on the famous hillclimb course past Goodwood House.
The event will feature everything from steam-powered carriages of the 19th century to the latest 200mph supercars and 3,000bhp top fuel dragsters to classic rally cars.
There is also the Cartier Style et Luxe concours d’elegance and a glimpse into the future of transportation at FoS-TECH. Plus there’s a forest rally stage, a special Junior Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Action Sports arena.
