FEARLESS Ian Brown hopes his death-defying feat has earned him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The 29-year-old claims he is the first person on the planet to swallow two curved swords.

His remarkable feat has been recognised by Record Setter, an international resource allowing ordinary people the chance to set their own world records, after he uploaded the squeamish video to the site.

Now the professional sword eater is waiting to hear from the world’s recognised record archivists to see if he his name will grace its pages – just 11 months after first trying out the act.

Ian, who was brought up in Fareham and now lives in the Isle of Wight, was featured in The News in 1997 for carrying out his paper round on a unicycle.

He said: ‘Genuinely I don’t feel the blades unless they are cold. With this, I have to lean over and match the curve of the blade.

‘I want to go to places with sword swallowing that people don’t tend to do, something that stands out a bit.’

Earlier this year, Ian stunned the audience as a special sword swallowing guest in the Circus of Horrors show at the Kings Theatre in Southsea.

He added: ‘My girlfriend will be sitting there watching television and I will be swallowing swords in the corner of the room.’
