TWO huge Time Lord fans tied the knot at a Doctor Who themed wedding – and spent their honeymoon at a conference marking the cult sci-fi show’s 50th anniversary.
Josh and Abi Douglas and 90 guests dressed up as characters from the long-running BBC show on Saturday and even set up a Tardis on deck of HMS Warrior for the unusual ceremony.
The couple, of Francis Avenue, Southsea, said it was the wedding of their dreams.
Mrs Douglas, a civil servant, wore an exact replica of the outfit worn by the character Idris, the physical embodiment of the spirit of the Tardis.
The 44-year-old said: ‘It was absolutely fantastic, it went really well.
‘Everybody really dressed up and there were some stunning outfits. Even those who aren’t Doctor Who fans made a huge effort.
‘The Tardis was set up on the deck and it totally blew my mind.
‘I can’t tell you how happy I was to marry my own Doctor.’
Mr Douglas, who works in IT, went for the David Tennant era Doctor in a blue suit, brown mac and red Converse trainers.
He said: ‘We are both huge fans of the show and went straight from the wedding to London for the Doctor Who expo on Sunday.
‘We are huge fans so this has been a dream weekend.’
The happy couple, who met on virtual reality site Second Life, walked down the aisle to Mad Man in a Blue Box – a piece by Portsmouth composer Murray Gold, which featured in the show.
