IT has been a troublesome time for Terry Smith after his job took a turn for the worse.

So he was happily surprised when he found out he had won a pair of tickets to see Pompey play today. The 38-year-old from Old Road in Gosport will be watching the Blues play against Morecambe this afternoon.

His wife Lynne Smith, 52, nominated him. She said: ‘He’s been so down recently and I thought he could do with a treat.

‘He has recently lost his job and now works for an agency so he is never sure how many hours he will be working or how much money he’ll be bringing in.

‘He’s also had health issues with his knee which was operated on some years ago.’

Terry is a big Pompey fan and hasn’t seem a game for a few years. He said: ‘The last game I went to was the FA Cup Final in 2008.

‘I’m so excited to watch the game as I look forward to seeing the club finally progressing after all of the financial troubles we’ve had.’

Pompey will face the League Two side tomorrow in hope of a win after their defeat against Conference side Aldershot on Wednesday.

The News’ Pompey ticket giveaway will be continuing throughout the season for every home game. Email ruth.scammell@thenews.co.uk to nominate a deserving fan.
