After previously running two marathons – the first in the store warehouse and the second on the car park roof – Rob was this time joined by 63 of his colleagues at the Cosham store. Around 70 per cent of the supermarket’s staff took part in a relay run - once again on the car park roof - with participants setting their own personal challenges which ranged from three miles up to the 22 miles covered by Rob.

Rob, 45, said: ‘When I suggested the event I was overwhelmed by the response. It was brilliant to do something as part of a big team and I’m really proud of my staff for taking part. To maintain social distancing each person was allocated a time slot to cover their challenge. It was quite difficult to organise but it went really well on the day.’

In total the staff team covered 300 miles during Tuesday’s (June 30) event and have raised £5,000.

Rob added: ‘The money will go to the Portsmouth Hospitals Charity where it will be used to help support the fight on the Covid front line.’

Combined with previous events, Rob has now covered 74 miles and helped to raise over £8,000 for the local charity.

‘There are no plans for a fourth run but there’s a lot of satisfaction in knowing I have been able to do my bit to support the cause,’ said Rob.
