THERE is now another opportunity to get your hands on Pieces of Eight.

It’s not pirates’ spoil but a collection of short stories put together by the Hayling Writers’ group in aid of the island’s RNLI.

So far more than £1,000 has been raised from sales of the books in just three weeks. And, on Friday, you can buy the book from the foyer of Tesco, in Solent Road, Havant.

Writers will be manning a stall from 10am to 5pm and copies are available at £4.95.

Eight female writers aged from 63 to 89, came together to produce the thought-provoking anthology of 28 stories. They all meet every month and wanted to produce a book for charity.

Lesley Drew was one of them. She said: ’We are hoping that shoppers will consider this an excellent buy both for themselves and as Christmas gifts, as well as assisting a very worthy charity.’

Books are also available from the Hayling Island Book Shop, in Mengeham.
