CHICHESTER Cathedral has installed an 30ft painting inspired by the biblical stories of Jacob’s Ladder.

Descent, by Anna Freeman Bentley, is made up of eight panels and is on display until June 12.

The dramatic work explores the idea of a staircase not to, but from heaven.

The cathedral is open daily and entry is free.
